At JBSki we offer a range of courses which are seen as the perfect introduction to becoming a ski boat driver. Our experienced instructors can take you from a complete beginner to driving competently and safely with skiers in tow.

All our courses are taught on state of the art Ski Nautique Pleasure Crafts and operated on sheltered lakes, an ideal, and stress free environment for your introduction to ski boat driving. Ski boat courses are the ideal start in your journey to becoming a qualified coach an ideal qualification for a club driver, private boat owner or even a great job for a gap year!

Please bear in mind the minimum age for pleasure craft driving is 16.

Refresher Driver

Refresher Driver

The JBSki Refresher Driver is designed to help aspiring ski boat drivers to perfect their boat handling skills prior to undertaking any qualifications or towing skiers. This course is ideal for anyone looking to understand the basics to ski boat driving as well as gaining some valuable confidence behind the wheel.

At JBSki we use competition ski boats for all our courses so if you are not familiar with this type of craft it is recommended you gain some valuable time behind the wheel before embarking on any courses.

Ski Boat Driver Level 2. (SBD2)

The Ski Boat Driver Award is a certificate of competence awarded by the BWSW. The SBD2 is designed for anyone who wishes to drive unassisted for water skiing and/or other disciplines and is, for many, the starting point on the ski boat driver pathway.

The SBD2 is considered the benchmark standard to drive at clubs through the UK and a pre-requisite to becoming a licensed waterski and wakeboard coach.

Course Outline;

  • Classroom tuition, DVD instruction and question and answers.
  • SBD2 Practical Test – demonstration of basic boat handling skills and simple manoeuvers. (Safely towing, dropping in and collecting a skier)
  • SBD2 Written Test – complete a multiple choice paper of 22 questions. To pass – 18 correct answers minimum.
